What Motivates You?

What Motivates You?

We all desire success in our lives. Success feels tremendous and fills our lives with meaning and purpose. Along this journey, there are inevitable roadblocks and minor frustrations that threaten to weaken our resolve. Thomas Edison, the great American Businessman, failed 10,000 times before the lightbulb’s invention. Yet, he took it as a huge win. He later retorted, “I have not failed; I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” To use failures as a launchpad for future successes is what all successful entrepreneurs and people in business repeatedly do.

Every individual visualizes the future. A future is brimming with great success and influence. But how does someone get from Point A to Point B? The answer is a set of carefully defined objectives and an unwavering determination to accomplish them.
Let’s break it down –

Celebrate Small Wins: Everyone dreams of super success, a massive win. But those wins are usually the result of innumerable small victories that stack up. There is something called “the law of compounding.” Repetition coupled with smart strategy will set you up for great success. Never discredit small wins.

Smart Habits: Nothing can beat consistent effort. But consistency doesn’t spring up suddenly. When you decide to show up every day, regardless of the prevailing mood or situation, you are laying the foundation for a habit. Those habits have the power to alter your life.

Reward Yourself Often- Rather than waiting for a momentous occasion, make rewarding yourself an intentional activity. Mini vacations and spontaneous lunches are all great ways not only to enjoy the present moment but they are a great productivity booster.

Everyone Operates on their Timeline– You are not early nor too late. Stop measuring your progress based on how others are doing in their life. Someone might achieve great success at 20. Others might achieve it when they are older. Stop pressuring yourself. You are doing just fine.

Track Your Progress: You will be amazed if you sit down to analyze the remarkable progress you have made in the last six months. Sometimes, we are caught up in a whirlwind of activity and forget to take stock of things. It’s essential to chart your future steps. But it’s equally important to remember how far you have come.

Keep your Passion Alive: People with great passion can make the impossible happen. The target must be so alluring and sensational that you forget everything else. Passionate people are often labeled misfits and queer because they operate at different levels. In your quest for success, be prepared to be labeled a misfit.

Have a Broad Perspective: You can’t accomplish everything all at once. And remember, you are in this for the long haul. Anything worth achieving will demand great determination. This is where most people quit at the one-yard line. They have been in this race for so long and achieved so little that they are tempted to give it all up. But what separates the winners from the rest is a “never die” attitude. They stick to it until they achieve their dreams.

In all my years of coaching countless individuals, the one thing that has stood out to me is simply this, “You cannot accomplish anything worthwhile until your entire being is consumed with the relentless energy to achieve what you have set. Nothing can beat that raw drive and passion.

Find your passion. And then Give it all you have got!

Here’s a parting thought:

I know that if things were going to improve,
I was the One responsible for making it happen.

See you at the Top!!
