There is no failure, just feedback

There is No Failure- Just Feedback

Since time immemorial, we have perceived failure as an intrinsically bad event and one that should be avoided at all costs. Failure is simply a judgment about results that are not yet accomplished and cannot necessarily be termed bad. In a society governed by success and accomplishments principles, failure can be viewed as an outlier, an unnecessary roadblock. So, what exactly is the role of failure and is it a mandatory step towards Success?

But, before we dive into that concept, let me ask you, “Do you honestly believe you are worthy of success? Do you think you have what it takes to be considered as “having made it in life”? Or would you consider yourself as far below the spectrum of achievement? Why is this important, you may very well ask? So here’s my take on this, Your perception of your current state and your belief in your ability is the single most crucial factor that can alter the trajectory of your life.

You may have had your fair share of failures. Some avoidable, some silly, and some entirely a matter of chance. But it’s not the failure itself, is it? If you sincerely believe you are worthy of Success, you have to ask the Right Questions. The Right Questions will open doors to Success.

These Self Coaching questions will help you upgrade your mindset and accept all life challenges as opportunities for growth.

Question #1: “What could I have done differently? The ability to take feedback. And that perspective is the starting point that will prove invaluable in your journey toward Success. Every time you encounter a delay or a setback, you must alter course and think outside the box. You can pivot and strategize as many times as you want to. This must be your watchword until you reach the pinnacle of Success.

Question #2: How much do you believe in your Success? Have you been ridiculed for failing at it in your first attempt? Congratulations. Now you are experiencing the first symptoms of defeat and disillusionment coupled with people doubting your ability to come through. This is possibly the most challenging phase and most individuals flee after the first bout of failure.

Question #3: Let’s say you cross over despite the opposition. You have failed and yet managed to ride the wave. How I need to speak to myself must be the focal point from now on. If you talk defeat, you will encounter defeat. If you manifest failure, you will receive nothing but disappointments. How you speak to yourself during a testing time can either make or break you. Are you speaking victory?

Question #4:. How badly do you want it? An individual with a red-hot burning desire will always defeat the best of the best at doing the how. Your desire to accomplish your dream must supersede your desire for comfort; it must be unfazed by the opposition and challenged by defeat.

Question #5. What is stopping you from achieving your goals? Are you experiencing feelings of being adrift and undecided? Is it a lack of resources? Whatever the root cause, I would like you to do a deep dive and think of all the ways you can stop yourself from achieving your goals. Think about it often. Think about it Every day.

Let me be extremely honest with you. The road to Success is littered with failures. And you must have a heart of steel to withstand multiple losses without losing your sense of drive and adventure. In fact, you must expect failures as a necessary component of Success. You cannot genuinely enjoy real Success until you have gone through bitter defeats and detours.

In the Far east, a tree is known as the Chinese Bamboo. For the first four years, the Chinese Bamboo hardly grows. No visible sign of growth. Nada. However, year five is the Game changer. Within five weeks, the humble Bamboo grows to ninety feet, leaving all its competitors far behind. Sometimes you might think you have been hidden. The reality is that you have been planted.

The Most Important Question –  Have I failed, really? Well, that depends on your perspective. What you considered a failure was telling you about another way that would not be successful, so change your strategy, look for something different and something that will work better. As said by Edison, “Now you know 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Now you know your limitations and how you can position yourself for the future. Now YOU can sustain the pace in the long run because you failed. You see, failure can also teach you. It is all a matter of PERSPECTIVE.

Fail Early. Failures are nothing but stepping stones to Success!

There is no Failure; its only feedback to change to another strategy

Eight Powerful Ways to Set Priorities in Life

Eight Powerful Ways to Set Priorities in Life:

According to Wikipedia, Prioritization is the activity that arranges items or activities in order of importance relative to each other. In today’s age, effective prioritization is the key to getting ahead. I read about the 80/20 rule years ago and have used it extensively and successfully in my professional career. This rule suggests that while setting priorities, always focus on the first 20 percent of the task. Focus your energies aggressively on getting 20 percent of the critical work. The remaining 80 percent will inevitably follow through on that initial momentum, and completing it will be a breeze.

Most of us, who lack this habit of Prioritisation, start picking up every other task and burdening ourselves to a point we can no longer carry on. This is where most people burn out or unconsciously shift from their goals and targets.

So, how do you actually set priorities? Here are Eight Simple yet effective ways for you to get started:

  1. Script it- Some people think the best while on a drive or a walk. Unfortunately, most people haven’t yet figured out just what it is that drives them or what makes them come alive, so to speak. Understanding what motivates you is the primary step and, In fact, is the first step in setting priorities. Without an all-encompassing vision, I seriously doubt whether an individual can sustain the pace in the long run. Writing it down, or scripting as manifestation gurus might call it is an excellent way as it solidifies your intent on paper. At this point, don’t think about the practicality of whether your dreams can turn into reality. Simply write it down and, most importantly, in no particular order. Let it be spread out on a Full A4 Sheet. Allow your unconscious to make its own connections.
  2. List it in Order of Priority The most demanding and complex tasks must occupy pride of place at the top, followed by moderate and minor importance functions. When you eventually accomplish the most critical task, it will motivate you to keep the momentum and keep moving forward. Follow this practice for a week for guaranteed results.
  3. Be Flexible Life doesn’t turn out the way we might script it, and developing an attitude of flexibility helps to move forward in facing adversities. Being hung over something and refusing to move forward can stunt growth and alter the course of your life. Remember this, there might be a different pathway to your goal and you just have to figure it out. Be Flexible with your plans but committed as far as the end goal is concerned. I have seen this played out over and over in the lives of highly successful individuals like Steve Jobs and Howard Schultz.
  4. Evaluate your Day – Every night or at any other suitable time, make it a practice to Pause and go through the day’s activities. What went well? What could have been done differently? What are the most pressing problems on the agenda? What’s the turnaround time and so forth. This eliminates the panic when your day starts because your mind has rehearsed the pattern beforehand and you are in a much better position to make swift pragmatic decisions.
  5. Cultivate prioritization as a Habit- As I mentioned earlier, effective prioritization is the key to getting ahead. And as is the case with any skill, it takes time to develop. I would definitely not recommend trying to gain expertise in one go which might lead to feelings of overwhelm. Take small steps consistently; before you know it, you will have mastered the craft.
  6. Eliminate Distractions Rigorously Focusing on multiple projects simultaneously is a recipe for disaster. It can potentially drive you berserk and make rash decisions that can further escalate into something entirely unmanageable. While dealing with more significant projects, alternate between taking power breaks and breaking large chunks into bite-sized pieces. It’s a thin line that only comes with repeated practice and failures. While most people practice prioritization in some form or another, very few Infact have mastered intelligent prioritization.
  7. Operate by a Timeline What’s the point of setting priorities if it is not governed by a timeline? Change and growth are scary, but nothing is as frightening as staying stuck in the same place year after year. Operating on default and letting life take control is a precarious proposition. If there is a vision, there must be priorities and those priorities must be governed by a realistic timeline.
  8. Keep the Momentum– Having Goals and practicing prioritization is excellent. Still, if the momentum is missing, it’s a resounding failure, and this is by far the most significant challenge. It is safe to assume that if you are reading this right now, you are willing to take a step forward in cultivating this mindset. And once you do, you will start operating like the 1%. Which means you will witness exponential success.

You Got This!

How to hire a NLP Practitioner?

How to select an NLP Practitioner as your Life Coach?

The Coaching industry is valued at two billion and continues to see an upward climb. Hiring a Coach is swiftly becoming indispensable in today’s fast-paced world. Right from wellness to Career development, coaches cater to a wide variety of clients and tailor a coaching strategy that is a custom fit.
Nowadays, employers prefer to check your brand value on LinkedIn, and other social media handles before they decide to get you on board. Your brand value can get you the best deals and a seat at the table in one of the world’s highly sought-after companies. It’s not surprising, therefore, that the market is rife with Coaches that promise to aid you on this journey of achieving super success. It is also true when you are thinking of hiring a life coach. And that brings me to this essential point of “doing your research” before you sign up.

Let’s jump in and examine some of the questions you must ask yourself. If possible, schedule a quiet time away from all the distractions and objectively ask the below. I will list them in Order of Priority.

  • Why is a Coach/ NLP Practitioner essential at this stage in my life?
  • How is an NLP practitioner Different from Other Coaching Modalities? How is it different from Counselling?
  • Can I accomplish the targets I have set for myself alone?
  • Does the Coach in question have a history of handling such cases? What does their track record say?
  • What do people say about the Coach I have shortlisted?
  • Am I comfortable working with an NLP Professional?

Once you have decided that you would like to go ahead and a Coach can provide exceptional value in your life, next comes the all-important step of research. Let’s say you have browsed through the profiles of numerous coaches and checked the services they offer, and each one seems to be better than the last. Please remember that a Coach’s Profile might be “state of the art,” yet they might not have the requisite skills. Below are some points you may want to consider before you decide on the ONE.

Did they obtain their qualifications from a renowned and recognized Organization? Which professional body are they registered with? Some NLP Professionals working in specific sectors like therapy or training may have additional external accreditation from One of the Organizations that covers NLP. Are they working with a Coach themselves?

If possible, schedule a zoom call or an in-person meeting with the NLP Professional to get more insights into their work and how they approach specific situations. Don’t shirk from asking some hard-hitting questions.

This will clear any preconceived notions that any of you might have and establish whether you are comfortable sharing your thought processes and how you would like to achieve your objectives.

Now that you have zeroed on the Coach, let’s look at the questions you might want to ask them:

  • How many practice hours do you undertake each year?
  • When did you qualify?
  • Which National / International Organizations issued your certification? You can check with ANLP / ITA or other agencies to check and verify the information.
  • What expertise do you have relevant to my particular problem? What other modalities methods will you implement to solve my specific situation?
  • Would I receive Regular feedback, and if so, at what intervals? Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly?
  • Do you have Insurance?
  • Can I see testimonials from other Clients? Can I talk to a few of them?
  • What Professional body/ Governing Organizations are you affiliated with?
  • Do they have a Code of Ethics that you abide by?
  • Where are you based?
  • Are you able to Offer Consultations in Other Areas?
  • How Long is the session, and how many sessions will I need?
  • What if the Appointment is Cancelled? What next?
  • How much do you charge? Is it per session or hour based?
  • What if it doesn’t work?
  • Will there be a Contract should we choose to proceed?

You might have a host of other questions. This is just the preliminary list to get you started.

Your Coach cannot guarantee results unless you commit to do the grunt work. You have to decide to make a change and work in tandem with your coach to accomplish your dreams. There might be days when you would want to quit. But you have to pick yourself up and back your plans with action. Have a mindset to succeed despite setbacks. A Coach will inspire you to get to your goal. But the bottom line is simply this, “The Commitment to do the work starts and ends with you.”

Now, you have the Blueprint.

Choose Your Coach.

Do we have Choices when we are challenged with Adversities?

Do we have choices when we are challenged with adversity?

“Dislikes, disdain, and phobias guide our lives, rather than acute positivity.” These are the sentiments echoed by a prominent philosopher. We gravitate toward the negative, the dark and the difficult. Fear, anxiety, phobias, and paranoia are sometimes given a foothold in our lives. We become a victim of a warped way of thinking. Research has proven that ninety percent of our thoughts center around the negative on any given day. Someone rightly remarked, “Mindset is everything.” The right mindset unlocks opportunities, whereas a negative thought pattern welcomes unprecedented calamity.

In my earlier article on Phobia, we explored the concept of fear, how it develops, anxious behaviors and how trauma leaves an irrevocable footprint on our psyche. Life has been unkind to some, and yet, there are others who struggle despite luxury. Where do you really draw the line?

Here are the strategies and techniques that have been beneficial to millions of individuals who decided to alter the course of their lives:

  • Practicing Relaxation– Meditation, yoga, deep breathing exercises, and listening to soothing music can boost mood and assist in sleeping better.
  • Long Walks– Countless people have attested to the benefits of long walks. Some say it energizes them, while others love to walk whilst listening to music. A manager at a leading company mentioned it as the perfect start to his day and enabled him to make decisions faster.

  • Make a List– And No, this activity is not confined only to grocery shopping. Make a list of potential triggers. Things that spark an extreme reaction or cause an outburst. It’s always wiser to counteract a negative trigger with a positive one. It might be something an individual likes to do, and eventually, the feelings of anger subside.

  • Change your Focus – Focus on things that you can control rather than things that you cant Control. When you achieve and accomplish things that are very much in your control, you lead a life a “Cause Side” and always be a winner. People who focus on things that are not in their control, invite stress to be their companion.
  • Handling Stress– Taking time off to do nothing can be invaluable for someone overwhelmed by pressing situations. (Read my article on Handling Stress)
  • Take a Vacation– Most individuals shy away from taking time off. Rest is not a luxury. It’s a basic need and we need to start normalizing it. Too many people are at the breaking point because they refuse to indulge in some self-care.
  • Talk to Your Network- It might consist of a few trusted individuals with whom you can be absolutely honest. No pretenses. Talking to a trusted friend or colleague is not a sign of weakness. It takes courage to speak out about your vulnerabilities.
  • Coaching – People riddled with anxiety require a few sessions of Coaching that gradually instill confidence and the ability to fight against life’s challenges. Negative thought patterns aren’t easy to abolish. But a seasoned Coach can lead you into a life of choices.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aims to abolish distorted thinking that causes anxiety and panic. It takes repeated exposure to life-giving statements that gradually aid in transforming an individual’s outlook. Sometimes, complex incidents in childhood are revisited, and traumatic incidents are relived with new resources, and learn to handle those situations differently. An Individual may have been scarred brutally, their self-image in tatters. Crossing this chasm takes infinite patience and a lot of support.
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming – helps to address phobias and PTSD. It uses your capabilities to overcome the fear of heights, water, or snakes. It also works by reprogramming your mind to handle Stress, Anxiety and hopelessness.

Sometimes, sadly, People look for shortcuts and end up developing a co-dependency on medications. Antidepressants are prescribed that offer temporary relief, but sometimes individuals become overly dependent on them, which causes a host of other physical problems like nausea, dizziness and weight gain. Our overall capacity to handle stress is rapidly diminishing, considering all the demands placed on an individual. Anxiety has become commonplace. No wonder popping pills seems like a tempting answer.

So, what is the Takeaway?
Self-help measures, NLP and Coaching, can be used depending on the severity of the issue. Almost always, people can only be rescued if they “Want to.”

I want to leave you, the readers, with a parting thought of Maria Konnikova,
“If you are lucky enough to never experience any sort of adversity, we won’t know how resilient you are. It’s only when you are faced with obstacles, and stress, then that resilience or the lack of it, emerges. Do you succumb, or do you surmount?
